Immediate issues have been identified with regard to collection pits located at Scarborough Toyota wash bays located at the rear of 301 Gibney Ave – Major ponding areas located at the southern corner of the premises have been highlighted and may be related to civil works of the freeway widening project under construction by BMD.
Inspections of 2 identified grated pits was required to determine and identify any defects, blockages and damage.
Blockage Inspection
Allpipe Technologies attended the site equipped with JET CAM and Vac truck to investigate a potential blockage.
The water catch grate was cleared (pit 1, 2 and 3) with the Vac truck to allow us to investigate all of the connections between the grate and pits to ensure water was continuously flowing. What we found was a large maintenance pit that contained a submersible pump inside.
Using the Vac truck, the large maintenance pit was cleared of water in which we found dirty rags wrapped around the impellers of the pump. The Allpipe team then Jet washed approximately 5 metres between pit 3 and the submersible pump. The pump pit was then filled with clean water to test the float mechanism on the pump.
After filling pump pit with clean water to test the float mechanism on the pump, it was found that the pump did not activate meaning the fault lies with the pump located in large maintenance pit
